Epigenetic Regulation of Tumor Immunogenicity

Onco-immunotherapy holds great promise for the eventual eradication of cancer. However, at the present time, the response rate of cancer to immunotherapy remains around 20%, which represents a major challenge. In this presentation, I will explore the possibility of manipulating epigenetic regulators in order to turn tumors from “cold” to “hot”. I will also discuss possible mechanisms that underlie this transformation of tumor behavior.

 施扬，男，1982年毕业于上海第一医学院，1987年获纽约大学医学院分子生物学专业博士学位，1988-1991年为普林斯顿大学博士后。1991年受聘于哈佛大学医学院,2004年晋升为终身正教授。2005年起为复旦大学生物医学研究院分时PI、教授，同年被评选为教育部“长江学者奖励计划”讲座教授，2012年入选国家“千人计划”讲座教授(B类)。施扬教授曾担任吴瑞协会（Ray Wu Society，现称为CBIS，即华人生物学家协会）理事长（2000-2002年）及美州华人生物科学学会主席（2016-17）。最重要的研究成果之一是发现了首个组蛋白赖氨酸去甲基化酶LSD1，结束了长达40多年关于组蛋白是否可以去甲基化的争议，开创了组蛋白甲基化修饰动态调控的新领域。施扬教授还领导课题组发现了许多含JmjC结构域的去甲基化酶，以及率先发现了识别“零”甲基的蛋白。其科研成就推动了表观遗传学快速发展及新药开发，得到学术界广泛认可，2005年获华人生物学家协会资深研究奖（CBIS Senior Investigator Award)，2012年获美国癌症协会（American Cancer Society）教授荣誉，2016年当选美国人文及科学院院士。
