摘要
In this study, we demonstrate a coupled photon-electron-ion transport behavior across photo-responsive ionic dye-sensitized covalent organic framework membranes. The developed nanofluidic devices exhibited excellent cation conductivity and were capable of converting external light into electric signals via photoexcitation-induced ion transmission. The synergy between the salinity gradient and photo-driven ion transport increased the output power density of a nanofluidic device by enhancing the ion permeability. The resulting device achieved a peak power density of 129 W m−2 with a salinity difference of 0.5/0.01 M NaCl upon light irradiation. This is approximately 26 times higher than that of the commercial benchmark (5 W m−2). This study conceptually demonstrates the photoelectric action in ionic membranes and offers a promising opportunity to supplement the increasing energy demand.
