1. Introduction
The content about FACS projects has been a major part on the FACS web page created by Dr. Alan Arnold, located in Australian Chemistry Network OzChemNet WWW Server at http://ozchemnet.adfa.oz.au/FACS/
At the ACGC (Asian Coordinating Group for Chemistry) 15, held in Kunming, Sep.30 - Oct. 1 1999, prompted by Prof. Barry Noller, Chair of ACGC, to create web archive of Asian Coordinating Group for Chemistry (ACGC) meetings was proposed. During the 8th Asian Chemical Congress held in Taipei of Nov. 21 - 24 1999, the FACS officials and some of the FACS projects directors discussed about the possibility to create a new web page of FACS. As the web page of ChIN (Chemical Information Network, one of the FACS project) has been running on Internet since 1997 and is getting more and more access from the chemical community, to create new web pages for all FACS projects on ChIN www server was suggested after the discussion.

The new web page for FACS projects was created at the beginning of year 2000. It is now available on ChIN www server, located in Laboratory of Computer Chemistry (LCC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. The URL is
http://chin.icm.ac.cn/FACS/projects/index.htm
2. The Contents of FACS Projects Web Page
2.1 Overview
The new version FACS projects web page covers all the FACS projects as listed in figure 1. An index page has been created for each project that lists introduction, directors, web site, events archive, and the report of the project. The basic information has been obtained from the old version of FACS web page, new updates have been added when available. For example, the most up to date reports (1997-1999) from project directors has been made available.
The biennial report on FACS projects for 1997 to 1999 by Coordinator of projects, Barry N Noller is also available for browse on the web page, see figure 1.
Among the FACS projects, both ChIN and ACEN have their own web sites. More detailed information can be found by following the links to ChIN and ACEN sites.
To facilitate communications with and between the FACS projects, a mailing list called FACS-Projects-List has been set up on LCC server. This list is not public, and only available to the FACS project directors. The list has been used to request information and report the progress of the FACS projects web page construction. The progress with the Project web pages has been hampered by the poor response rates of some Directors. I hope the situation could be improved in the future. The web page will be updated as soon as possible when new updates sent to me from project directors. The e-mail address to contact me is
xxia@home.ipe.ac.cn
Project directors can post anything that should be known by other directors in the FACS-Projects-List, simply send message to the following e-mail address:
FACS-Projects-List@ns.icm.ac.cn
2.2 The web archive of ACGC
On the FACS project web page, the ACGC page is the most comprehensive one. The ACGC index pages consists of four parts: the ACGC, The Journal: ACGC CRC, the ASOMPS conference series and related meetings. It is structured in the following way:
ACGC
About ACGC
ACGC Meetings
ACGC Members
Minutes of ACGC Meetings
The Journal: ACGC CRC
About ACGC CRC
Sample Copy, Vol. 6, 1997 in PDF
Minutes of ACGC CRC Board Meetings
The Conference: ASOMPS
About ASOMPS
ASOMPS IX 24-28 September 1998 Hanoi, Vietnam
ASOMPS X, Nov. 19-23, 2000, DHAKA, BANGLADESH
Related Meetings
UNESCO Regional Symposium on Chemistry of Medicinal Plants, March17-19, 2000, Kunming, China
The 'ACGC Meetings' link contains a list of ACGC 1 to ACGC 15 as well as the coming ACGC 16 in 24-25 November 2000, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The 'Minutes of ACGC Meetings' currently contains the Minutes of ACGC 1 to ACGC 3, ACGC 13 to ACGC 15. Figure 2 shows the web archive of the Minutes of ACGC 15. The Minutes for four ACGC CRC (Chemical Research Communications) Board Meetings from 1993 to 1997 are also listed under this category. Further input is still required from the chief editor, Prof. Stephen Pyne, to decide whether the electronic version of ACGC CRC should be made available on the web page.

2.3 The ChIN Web Page
The construction of ChIN Web page started in November 1996 under support of Beijing Office and Jakarta Office of UNESCO. There are several goals for ChIN's Web page and other electronic activities:
ChIN page was launched on the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in May 1998. It has received steady increased access, the total requests is over 830,000 since then. About half of the visitors are from China.
Fig. 3 The Home Page of new ChIN site for English version
A completely new version of ChIN page (see figure 3) is under construction and is available on Internet since May 2000 at http://www.chinweb.com.cn/. Access to new ChIN site also increased steadily and has received more than 80,000 requests. ChIN's new site has both the English and Chinese versions. The daily maintenance is based on a database model and new updating information can be delivered to desktop of chemists automatically.
3 The Features of the Web Page
The new version of the FACS projects web page has been carefully designed and implemented. The page has been structured for easy browsing of information. Multiple entries have been created for each document to allow hyperlinking with other related documents. Large files have been separated into smaller ones, and are linked together by hyperlinks, significantly increasing the speed of information retrieval.
From Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 you may noticed that the "FACS Home" is left unlinked because the new official home page of FACS is not available yet. The formal launch of the new web site for the FACS projects should be proceeded with the launch of new home page of FACS together over Internet and by other media. Now the registration of official domain name for FACS home page is in the process.
Any suggestions and comments for the new web page of the FACS projects are welcome and please send them to xxia@home.ipe.ac.cn.
Acknowledgement
I wish to thank Dr. Barry Noller to help me collect the information. And I'm grateful to our lab LCC, the network facilities of LCC makes it possible that the FACS projects new web page runs on Internet 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
