The Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) currently has more than 120,000 individual members and 184 organizational members.

There are currently five membership categories for CCS, which are listed below:
(1) Student Member:
Students majoring in chemistry and related disciplines are welcome to
apply online to become Student Members. There is a membership fee of RMB 200 for four years that must be
one-time paid for students to join CCS.
(2) Regular Member:
(A) Regular Domestic Membership: Professionals working in all
fields of chemistry and related technologies, including those who are interested in chemical research
development, application, education, management, media, services and other fields of chemical science and
technology, are welcome to apply online to become Regular Members of CCS. There is also a membership fee of RMB
200 for four years that must be one-time paid for the membership to remain active. Membership age with the
society begins once an individual becomes a Regular Member. Communication for Regular Domestic Members will be
in Chinese only. Professionals living outside of China and who prefer communication from CCS in Chinese may join
as Domestic Regular Members. Regular Domestic Members can apply for membership here.
(B) Regular International Membership: Foreign professionals working in all fields of chemistry and allied fields, as described in (A), are welcome to apply to become CCS Regular International Members. Regular International Members will receive all communication from CCS in English. There is also a membership fee of USD 40 for four years that must be one-time paid for the membership. Regular International Members only apply using this online English application form.

(3) Senior Member:
Regular Members who meeting the following criteria are welcome to apply to
become Senior Members of CCS. Applicants must have:
(a) Published articles and/or monographs that are considered by peers to be at a high scholarly level in his/her field;
(b) Patents that are considered to have a high practical importance;
(c) Led or participated in relevant and notable engineering projects;
(d) Made recognized achievements in the field of education or mentorship;
(e) Achieved an important and influential position in chemistry or related fields;
(f) Have made significant contributions to the development of CCS as a society.
(4) Fellow:
Fellows of the Chinese Chemical Society (FCCS) are the highest membership level
that CCS Members can achieve. Senior members who have made systematic, creative achievements, and who have made
significant contributions in chemistry and related fields or made outstanding contributions to the development
of CCS can be nominated to become CCS Fellows. Nominations for new CCS Fellows are brought forward by no fewer
than two current CCS Fellows.

(5) CCS Honorary Fellow:
Honorary Fellows are internationally recognized chemistry
professionals who have made positive contributions to the development of chemistry or to CCS. Candidates for CCS
Honorary Fellows are nominated and voted on by the board of CCS. The current 80 CCS Honorary Fellows can be

In addition to becoming part of China’s largest chemistry community, CCS membership provides a number of benefits.
(1) Latest News and Events:
CCS members will receive direct access to the latest news and
events impacting the Chinese chemistry community in Chinese (Domestic Members) and English (International
Members).
(2) Conferences
CCS Congress and other CCS-hosted conferences provide excellent venues for
exchanging ideas and research results with other chemists. While most domestic CCS conferences have Chinese as
the primary language, CCS holds several international conferences each year with symposia in English. Members
will be notified about conference opportunities based on their communication preference. Registration for CCS
conferences is offered at a discount to members: Student Members save up to 30%, and Regular Members, Senior
Members and Fellows save up to 20%.
(3) CCS Journal Discount
CCS members at all levels can publish open access in CCS-owned
journal with member-only discounts.
(4) CCS Digital Library
CCS membership comes with access to the CCS digital library, which
includes presentations (in Chinese or English), information about professional development for chemists.
(5) Others
Members at the Senior Member level and higher will have the opportunity to connect
online with other Senior Members and Fellows in the CCS Network through a personal webpage hosted by CCS. This
feature is under development and will be made available soon.
